Skill: Easy

Size: 8 ½” across.

Materials: Yarn Needle; Worsted Weight Yarn; White (W) – 2 oz, 110 yd (56 g, 99 m); Small amounts Blue (B), Green (G) and Yellow (Y).

Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: Rnds 1-2 = 2 ¼” across.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Front

Rnd 1 (Right Side): With W, ch 1, (center ch), ch 3 (counts as dc now and throughout), work 11 dc in center ch; join with sl st to first dc. (12 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each st around; join.

(24 dc)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) around; join. (36 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 4 (Leaf Rnd): With right side facing, join G with sc to any st, ch 1 (center ch), (ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sl st in center ch) 3 times, sc in same st as joining (Leaf made), sc in next 5 dc, * sc in next dc, ch 1 (center ch), (ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sl st in center ch) 3 times, sc in same st as before (Leaf made), sc in next 5 dc; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc. (6 Leaf groups and 42 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 5: With right side facing, join W with sc to any sc, working behind Leaf groups, work 47 sc evenly spaced around; join with sl st to first sc.  (48 sc)

Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in next 2 sc, 2 dc in next sc, (dc in next 3 sc, 2 dc in next sc) around; join.

(60 dc)

Note: While working Rnd 7, work corresponding sts over tips of 2 side petals.

Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st) around; join.

(72 dc)

Note: While working Rnd 8, work corresponding sts over tips of center petals.

Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st) around; join.  (84 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Back

Rnd 1: With W, ch 1, (center ch), ch 3, work 11 dc in center ch; join with sl st to first dc.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each st around; join.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) around, join.  (36 dc)

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, (dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st) around, join. (48 dc)

Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st) around, join.  (60 dc)

Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in each of next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st) around, join.  (72 dc)

Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st, (dc in each of next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st) around, join.  (84 dc) Finish off and weave in all ends.

Flowers (Make 6)

With B, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form ring; (ch 2, dc in ring, ch 2, sl st in ring) 5 times, finish off and weave in ends. (5 petals) Using Y, fasten a Flower to the base of each Leaf group with a French knot in the center of each Flower.

French Knot

Bring yarn threaded needle up from wrong to right side of work at A. Wrap yarn twice around needle. Tighten the twists and insert needle again at A. Pull needle with firm even pressure until the yarn slides through the wrapped yarn, making a knot that lies on the right side as shown below.

Border

With wrong sides together and working through both pieces at the same time, join G with sc to any st, ch 15, sl st in sc just made (hanger made), sc in same st as joining, work 88 sc evenly spaced around; join with sl st to first sc.

(90 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.
