Skill: Easy
Size: About 10½” wide and 9½” long
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton: White – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m) Pink – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m)
Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)
To Change Colors
Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color, yo and pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.
JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
Special Stitches
Popcorn (PC): 5 dc in next st, drop lp from hook, insert hook from front to back in first dc made, pull dropped lp through.
DISHCLOTH
Row 1: (Right Side) With White, ch 32, hdc in 3rd ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first hdc), [hdc in next ch] across. (31 hdc)
Rows 2-5: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc now and throughout), turn, [hdc in next hdc] across.
Rows 6: Ch 3 (counts as first hdc and ch 1), turn, skip next hdc, hdc in next hdc, [ch 1, skip next hdc, hdc in next hdc] across, change color to Pink. (16 hdc and 15 ch-1 sps)
Row 7: With Pink, ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, [PC in next ch-1 sp, dc in next hdc] across, change to White. (15 Popcorn)
Row 8: With White, ch 3 (counts as first hdc and ch 1), turn, skip next PC, hdc in next dc, [ch 1, skip next PC, hdc in next dc] across. (16 hdc and 15 ch-1 sps)
Row 9: Ch 2, turn, [hdc in next ch-1 sp, hdc in next hdc] across. (31 hdc)
Rows 10-13: Ch 2, turn, [hdc in next hdc] across.
Rows 14-21: Rep Rows 6-13.
At the end of Row 21, change color to Pink. DO NOT FINISH OFF.
Edging
Rnd 1: Ch 2, (right side facing), * working in sides of rows, evenly hdc across *; working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 hdc in first ch, [hdc in next ch] across to last ch, 3 hdc in last ch; rep from * to *; working in Row 21, 3 hdc in first hdc, [hdc in next hdc] across to last hdc, 3 hdc in last hdc; join with sl st to first hdc. Finish off and weave in ends.
