Skill: Easy
Size: About 6” wide and 9½” long (without antlers).
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Brown – 2 oz, 100 yds (60 g, 92 m) Off-White – ½ oz, 25 yds (15 g, 23 m) Small amounts Red, White and Black (Lily Sugar ‘n Cream / Crème de la Crème)
Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)
Special Stitches
Picot: Ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook.
DISHCLOTH
Head
Rnd 1: (Right Side) With Brown, ch 18, 3 dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped 3 ch counts as first dc), dc in next 13 ch, 8 dc in last ch, working on other side of starting ch, dc in next 13 ch, 4 dc in same ch as first 4 dc; join with sl st to first dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in same dc as joining, 2 sc in next 2 dc, sc in next 5 dc, hdc in next dc, dc in next 9 dc, 2 dc in next 6 dc, dc in next 9 dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next 5 dc, 2 sc in last 3 dc; join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st, 2 sc in next 3 sts, sc in next 10 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next 8 sts, 2 dc in next 8 sts, dc in next 8 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next 10 sts, 2 sc in last 4 sts; join as before.
Rnd 4: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), hdc in same st , [hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st] twice, hdc in next 13 sts, sc in next st, dc in next 10 sts, [2 dc in next st, dc in next st] 6 times, dc in next 10 sts, sc in next st, hdc in next 12 sts, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st] 3 times; join with sl st to first hdc.
Rnd 5: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 19 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next 14 sts, [2 dc in next st, dc in next st] 5 times, dc in next 12 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in last 20 sts; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Antlers (Make 2)
Row 1: (Right Side) With Off-White, ch 10, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 5 ch (leave rem 3 ch), ch 10, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 5 ch (leave rem 3 ch), ch 6, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 4 ch, sl st in rem 6 unworked ch.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, working on other side of ch, hdc in each ch around shape, working 5 hdc in antler tips. Finish off leaving long end.
Ears (Make 2)
Rnd 1: (Right Side) With Brown, ch 6, 3 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (skipped ch-2 counts as first hdc), hdc in next 2 ch, (4 hdc, picot, 4 hdc) in last ch; working in unused lps of starting ch, hdc in next 2 ch, 4 hdc in last ch (same as first 4 hdc); join with sl st to first hdc. Finish off leaving long end for sewing.
Nose
Rnd 1: (Right Side) With Red, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st, [2 hdc in next sc] around; join with sl st to first hdc. Finish off leaving long end.
Eyes (Make 2)
Rnd 1: (Right Side) With Black, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, changing to White in last sc. Finish off Black and weave in ends.
Rnd 2: With White, 2 sc in next 4 sc, sl st in next sc. Finish off leaving long end.
Finishing – use photo as guide
- With right side of Head facing, position Antlers, Ears, Nose and Eyes. Using long ends, sew in place.

This is adorable and great for a decoration in the kitchen during the holidays. I really like it.
I’m going to make this. My grandchildren will love it. Im making it to use as a hat mat.
So cute! I really like this pattern.. There are many uses for it besides a dishcloth…
I made this in tan and added a black smile under the nose. Real cute. I also instead of hdc on the antlers, I used sc. I loved how it turned out.I had a towel that I had bought last year that had a tan rudolph on it. I made a potholder and made this a set. Wish I had a scanner so I could send in the picture. Could also applique this on a sweat shirt. Thanks to all the people who have donated. Wish I could design crochet.
