#259 Sedge Stitch Dishcloth – Maggie Weldon Maggies Crochet

Sedge Stitch Dishcloth

Skill: Easy

Size:
About 9” wide by 10” long.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Yellow – 2 oz, 100 yds (60 g, 92 m) (Lily Sugar ‘n Cream)

Crochet Hook:
Size J-10 (6.00 mm)

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

DISHCLOTH

Row 1:
(Right Side) Ch 30, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, (skipped ch counts as first sc), (hdc, dc) in next ch, * skip next 2 ch, (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch; repeat from * to last 3 ch, skip next 2 ch, sc in last ch.

Row 2:
Ch 1 (counts as first sc now and throughout), turn, [hdc, dc] in first sc, * skip next (dc, hdc), (sc, hdc, dc) in next sc; repeat from * to last 3 sts, skip next (dc, hdc), sc in last sc (turning ch).

Rows 3-20:
Rep Row 2.

At the end of Row 20, DO NOT FINISH OFF.

 
Edging

Rnd 1:
Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in first sc, [sc in next st] across to last sc, 3 sc in last sc, * working in sides of rows, evenly sc across *, working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first ch, [sc in next ch] across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; rep from * to *; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2:
Sl st in next sc, ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc) is same sc, * skip next sc, [(sc, hdc, dc) in next sc, skip next 2 sc] across to next corner st, (sc, hdc, dc) in corner sc, [skip next sc, (sc, hdc, dc) in next sc] across side to next corner st *, (sc, hdc, dc) in corner sc; repeat from * to *; join. Finish off and weave in ends.
