There is just something about this design that I love!  It would be fun to experiment with all kinds of variegated yarn in the middle.  This is another cleaver design by Carol Ballard.

Skill: Easy
Size: About 9½” across – at widest point.
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Multicolor – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m); Dark Green – 1 oz, 50 yd, (30 g, 46 m); Blue – 1 oz, 50 yd, (30 g, 46 m); Yellow  – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m) (I Love This Cotton)
Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm)
Gauge: 3 sc = 1″, 3 sc rows = 1″.

TO CHANGE COLORS
Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color yo and pull new color through remaining loops on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

DISHCLOTH
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, with Multicolor, ch 2, 7 sc in 2^nd ch from hook. (7 sc) DO NOT JOIN. MARK BEG OF EACH ROUND.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (14 sc)
Rnd 3: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc] around. (21 sc)
Rnd 4: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc] around. (28 sc)
Rnd 5: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc] around. (35 sc)
Rnd 6: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc] around. (42 sc) Change color to Dark Green.
Rnd 7: With Dark Green. [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc] around. (49 sc)
Rnd 8: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc] around. (56 sc)
Rnd 9: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 7 sc] around. (63 sc)
Rnd 10: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 8 sc] around. (70 sc) Change color to Blue.
Rnd 11: With Blue. [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 9 sc] around. (77 sc)
Rnd 12: [2 sc in first sc, sc in next 10 sc] around. (84 sc)
Rnd 13: [Sc in next 2 sc, hdc in next sc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 tr in next sc, dc in next 2 sc, hdc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc] around; sl st in next sc. (91 sts) Finish off and weave in ends.
Rnd 14: With right side facing, join Yellow with sc to any sc, evenly sc around, working 2 sc in each corner; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
