Free Soap Pocket Scrubby Crochet Pattern

1” (25 mm) button, bar of soap

Crochet a neat soap pocket for bathing using yarn that gently exfoliates your skin. Choose a color that will please for a thoughtful Scrubby gift. The unique polyester yarn dries easily between uses and can be easily washed in the washing machine.

Gauge/Tension:     Gauge is not critical for this project.

Pocket measures 3” wide x 5” long (7.5 x 12.5 cm).

POCKET

Ch 8.

Round 1 (right side):  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 5 ch, 3 sc in last ch; working in opposite side of foundation ch, skip first ch, sc in next 5 ch, 2 sc in last ch; join with slip st in first sc—16 sc.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 2 dc in same st as join, *skip next sc, 3 dc in next sc; repeat from * 6 times, skip last sc; join with slip st in top of beginning ch—24 dc.

Rounds 3–7: Slip st in next dc, ch 3, 2 dc in same dc, *skip next 2 dc, 3 dc in next dc; repeat from * around, skip last dc; join with slip st in top of beginning ch—eight 3-dc groups.

Round 8: Ch 1, sc same st as join, sc in next 13 dc, (sc, ch 10, slip st) in next dc, sc in each remaining dc; join with slip st in first sc—24 sc and 1 ch-10 button loop.

FINISHING

Flatten pocket so button loop is centered at back of piece. Sew button to center of front below top edge. Weave in ends. Insert soap in pocket and fasten button loop over button.
