How many stitches are in the initial chain? Thanks.

Hey Sharlene, Unfortunately since this is a RedHeart pattern and not Maggie’s Crochet brand it’s hard for me to come up with an answer. I had my pattern expert look at it and she said she looked at the pattern and tried to back into the # of starting chains but it is written with an undefined number of repeats. I wish we could give you a better answer but, I have provided contact information for Red Heart below. You will need to contact them regarding
their patterns, and I am sure that they would appreciate your feedback.

Ladies! Oddly, it looks as though the pattern directions really begin in the middle where it says “SHAWL.” It appears that we chain 64 and then start with Row 1 at the top through Row 7, repeating until the shawls is 60 inches long, then wrap the border around. I don’t know why it’s written this way, but this appears to be the case.

    Hi Mary Kay,
Thank you for commenting. I have checked RedHeart.com and this is the way the pattern is formatted from them. You may need to contact them to see if this is correct. 🙂

I love this pattern but it does not say how many chains you make to start it. Can you please let me know? Thanks! Mary
