Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].

Yarn needle.

Size: Scarf measures 3.25” (8 cm) X 51” (130 cm).

GAUGE: 3 rounds = 3.5” (9 cm); 6.5 rows in pattern = 4”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain gauge.

NOTE

Beginning chain-3 counts as first double crochet. Join with a slip stitch unless otherwise stated.

Do not join or turn rounds unless otherwise stated. Mark first stitch of each round.

SCARF

Round 1: Ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook; slip st in top of beginning ch-4 – 12 dc.

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st; 2 dc in each of next 11 dc; slip st in top of beginning ch-3 –24 dc.

Round 3: Ch 3; 2 dc in next st; [dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc] 11 times; slip st in top of beginning ch-3 – 36 dc.

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in next 8 dc; leave remaining sts of circle unworked – 9 dc.

Row 5: Ch 3, turn; dc in next 8 dc.

Row 6: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in same dc, 3 dc in each of next 8 dc – 27 dc.

Row 7: Ch 3, turn; 2 dc in same dc, 3 dc in each of next 26 dc – 81 dc.

Row 8: Ch 1, turn; slip st in next 37 dc; ch 3, dc in next 8 dc; leave remaining 36 dc unworked – 9 dc.

Rows 9-72: Repeat Rows 4-8 until project reaches approximately 49” (124 cm) ending with

a Row 7. Fasten off.

Circle

Round 1: Ch 4; 11 dc in 4th ch from hook; slip st in top of beginning ch-4 – 12 dc.

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each of next 11 dc, slip st in top of beginning ch-3 –24 dc.

Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st; [dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc] 11 times; slip st in top of beginning ch-3 – 36 dc.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Whip-stitch circle onto finished end of scarf between stitches 37 and 46. Weave in all ends.
