RED HEART® LusterSheen®: 1 ball each 0007 Vanilla A and 0915 Cherry Red BSusan Bates® Crochet Hook: 3.5mm [US E-4]Yarn needle, rust proof pins, starch if necessary
Doily measures 8” (20 cm) in diameter
GAUGE: Rounds 1-4 = 4” (10 cm) across. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

 

Special Abbreviations

fpdc (front post double crochet): yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around the post of indicated stitch and draw yarn through, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice.

beg cl (beginning cluster, worked over 2  sts and skipping the st at the base of the beginning ch-2) = ch 2, [yarn over, draw up a loop in next st, yarn over and draw through 2 loops] twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops.

V st = (dc, ch 1, dc) in same st.

cl (cluster, worked over 3 sts) = [yarn over, draw up a loop in next st, yarn over and draw through 2 loops] 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 4 loops.

 

Snowflake Doily (Make 3 with A and 2 with B)

Ch 8; join with slip st to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, [3 dc in ring, ch 2] 5 times; join with slip st in top of ch-3.

Round 2: Ch 3, * fpdc around next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in ch-2 space, ch 1 **, dc in next dc; repeat from * around, end at **; join.

Round 3: Beg cl over next 2 dc, * ch 2, skip next ch-1 sp, V st in next dc, ch 2, skip next ch-1 sp **, cl over next 3 dc; repeat from * around, end at **; join in top of beg cl.

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, * ch 1, skip next ch-2 space, (3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in next ch-1 space, ch 1, skip next ch-2 space **, sc in next cl; repeat from * around, end at **; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.

Round 5: Join yarn in any ch-2 space; ch 4 (counts as tr), 8 tr in same space, ch 4, skip next 2 ch-1 spaces, [9 tr in next ch-2 space, ch 4, skip next 2 ch-1 spaces] 5 times; join in top of ch-4.

Round 6: Beg cl over next 2 tr, * [ch 3, cl over next 3 tr] twice, ch 4, dc in ch-4 space, ch 4 **, cl over next 3 tr (first 3 tr of next 9-tr group); repeat from * around, end at **; join.

Round 7: Skip Beg cl, [9 Tr in next cl, slip st in next cl, 4 sc in next ch-4 loop, sc in next dc, 4 sc in next ch-4 loop, slip st in next cl] 6 times, do not join.

Round 8: [Slip st in next 3 tr, skip next tr, (2 dc, ch 5, slip st in 4th ch from hook, ch 1, 2 dc) in next tr, skip next tr, slip st in next 3 tr, skip next slip st, slip st in next 5 sc, ch 3, slip st in same sc as last slip st, slip st in next 4 sc, skip next slip st] 6 times; join in first slip st. Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in ends. Mist well with water and pin to measurements, stretching to block. Allow to dry. OR if ends tend to curl, lightly spray starch on wrong side of doily.
