Skill: Easy

Size: About 8″ diameter (at widest point) and 5″ deep.

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn: White – 8 oz, 495 yd (252 g, 445 m) Pink – 2 oz, 110 yd (56 g, 100 m) Green – 2 oz, 110 yd (56 g, 100 m) (We suggest using 4 skeins White and 2 skeins each of Pink and Green, using yarn from both ends of skein.)

Large Yarn Needle.

Crochet Hook: Size Q (16.00 mm)

Special Stitches

Single crochet decrease (sc dec): Insert hook in next stitch, yo, pull up loop, (two lps on hook), insert hook in next stitch, yo, pull up loop, yo, draw through all three loops on hook.

Note: Basket is worked holding 8 strands of White together.

BASKET BASE

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)  DO NOT JOIN. MARK BEG OF EACH ROUND.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: Working in back loops only, [sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (21 sc)

Rnd 5: Working in both loops, [sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (24 sc)

Rnd 6: [Sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (27 sc)

Rnd 7: [Sc in next 7 sc, sc dec] around. (24 sc)

Rnd 8: [Sc in next 6 sc, sc dec] around. (21 sc)

Rnd 9: [Sc in next 5 sc, sc dec] around. (18 sc) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

HANDLE

Sl st in next sc, ch 15, skip next 8 sc, sl st in next sc; working in ch-15, sl st in each ch across, sl st in next sc on Rnd 9. Finish off and weave in ends.

LEAVES

Note: Leaves are worked holding 4 strands of Green together.

With Green, * ch 6, keeping last lp of each dc on hook, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, yo and draw through all lps on hook, ch 1, sl st along side of leaf and in first 2 starting chains; rep from * once more for other leaf. Finish off and weave in ends.

ROSE

Note: Rose is worked holding 4 strands of Pink together.

With Pink, ch 15, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, [ch 2, skip next ch, sl st in next ch] across. Finish off leaving 15″ long end.

Finishing – use photo as guide

– Using needle and long end of Rose, draw through foundation chain as you roll piece into Rose shape. Pull sts tight and whip stitch chains together. Pull yarn end through center of Rose.

–  Cut four 2″ long pieces of White yarn. Sew over center of pieces with yarn through middle of Rose. Sew Rose to center of leaves and then to center front of Basket.
