Puppy Love Crochet Pattern

LW2981

Designed By: Nancy Anderson

Skill Level: Easy

RED HEART® With Love™: 1 skein each 1302 Caramel A, 1321 Chocolate B, 1303 Aran C, 1703 Candy Pink D, and 1012 Black E.

Crochet Hooks: 4mm [US G-6] and 3.5mm [US E-4].

Yarn needle, stitch marker, two ½” diameter black shank style buttons, hand sewing needle, matching sewing thread, stuffing; optional plastic pellets and 1 knee-high stocking, optional dental floss for attaching eyes.
Toy measures 6” high, seated.
GAUGE: 18 sts = 4”; 20 rows = 4” in sc with larger hook. Gauge is not important with this project as long as tightly crocheted stitches are achieved to prevent stuffing showing through.
NOTES

1. Work in continuous rounds unless otherwise indicated.

2. Legs are worked first and attached with sc as specified as rounds are being worked.

3. Due to the weight of the head, adding a counter weight is recommended. Use about ¼ cup of plastic pellets stuffed in the toe of a knee high hose or a clean 1-1½” smooth pebble. In addition, to counter balance the head and allow the features to be seen properly, do not stuff the last 4 rounds of the body. This will allow the head to flop down a bit so that facial features can be viewed better.

4. If using post and washer eyes (safety eyes) rather than buttons, be certain to add them before the head is completed.

5. Toys with weight inserts and button eyes are not suitable for babies.
