Little Black Purse Dishcloth

Skill: Easy

Size: About 8″ wide and 8″ long (excl. handle).

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Black – 2 oz, 100 yds (60 g, 92 m) Small amount White Sparkle (I Love This Cotton)

Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Special Stitches

Half Double Crochet Decrease (hdc dec): Keeping last loop of each st on hook, hdc in next 2 sts, yo and pull through 3 loops on hook.

DISHCLOTH:

Row 1: (Right Side) With Black, ch 20, hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across. (19 hdc)

Rows 2-4: Ch 1, turn, 2 hdc in first hdc st, [hdc in next hdc] across to last hdc, 2 hdc in last st. (21, 23, 25 hdc)

Rows 5-7: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each hdc across. (25 hdc)

Rows 8-15: Ch 1, turn, hdc dec, [hdc in next hdc] across to last 2 hdc, hdc dec. (23, 21, 19, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9 hdc) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging

Rnd 1: Ch 1, do not turn, (right side facing), evenly sc around, working 2 sc in corner sts; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Handle

With right side facing, join White with sl st to top right corner st, ch 25, sl st in top left corner st, ch 1, turn, sc in next 25 ch, sl st in same st as joining, turn; sl st in each sc across Handle, sl st in same st as top left joining.  Finish off and weave in ends.

Flower

Rnd 1: (Right Side) With White, ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc. (8 sc)

Rnd 2: [Ch 2, sl st in next sc] 8 times; join as before. Finish off leaving long end.

– With right sides of Flower and Purse facing, using long end, sew Flower to top center of Purse.
