Watermelon Dress Dishcloth

Skill: Easy

Size:
About 10½” wide and 8″ long.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Cotton: Red – ½ oz, 25 yd (15 g, 23 m) Green – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m) Small amounts Pink and White. (Peaches & Crème)

Crochet Hook:
Size G-6 (4.25 mm)

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

DISHCLOTH

Yoke

Rnd 1: (Right Side) With Red, ch 8, join with sl st to first ch to form ring; ch 1, 16 sc in ring; join with sl st to first sc. (16 sc)

Rnd 2:
Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st as joining, ch 2, skip next sc, [2 dc in next sc, ch 2, skip next sc] around; join with sl st to first dc. (16 dc and 8 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 3:
Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), hdc in same st as joining, 2 hdc in next dc, ch 2, [2 hdc in next 2 dc, ch 2] around; join with sl st to first hdc. (32 hdc and 8 ch-2 sps) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 4:
With right side facing, join Pink with sc to any ch-2 sp, sc in same sp, sc in next 4 hdc (mark 3rd sc), [2 sc in next ch-2 sp, sc in next 4 hdc] around; join with sl st to first sc. (48 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 5:
With right side facing, join White with sc to marked st in Rnd 4, sc in same st, sc in next 5 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc] around; join as before. (54 sc)

Rnd 6:
With right side facing, join Green with sc to same st as joining, sc in next 13 sc, [sc in next sc, ch 3] 13 times, sc in next 15 sc, [sc in next sc, ch 3] 13 times, sc in next sc; join as before. (56 sc and 26 ch-3 sps) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Skirt

Row 1:
With right side facing (wrong side together), fold Yoke in half, matching solid sc sts, sl st in corresponding sc on other side, working through both thicknesses, [ch 3, sl st in next sc] 13 times. Leave remaining sts unworked. (13 ch-3 lps)

Rows 2-13:
Ch 5, turn, sc in first ch-3 lp, [ch 3, sc in next lp] 12 times. (13 ch-3 lps)

Row 14:
Ch 2, turn, 2 dc in first sc, [(sl st, ch 2, 2 dc) in next sc] across, sl st in 2nd ch of turning ch. Finish off and weave in ends. (13 shells)

    I’d love to be able to make the dishcloth dressin a larger size. Making the dress big enough for a 1 or 2 year old girl. I think it would be just awesome.
