Designer Carol Showers wrote: “This pattern was a coaster I have made for years and was easy to increase to make a dishcloth. With a few more rows of increases with the Christmas color, this would make a nice placemat.”

Skill: Easy

Size: About 9½” round.

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: White Fleck – 1 oz, 50 yds (30 g, 46 m);  Green – 1 oz, 50 yds (30 g, 46 m);  Small amount Red. (I Love This Cotton – Christmas, Bright Green, Red)

Yarn Needle

Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm)

DISHCLOTH

Rnd 1:
(Right Side) Starting at center, with White Fleck, ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped ch count as first dc); join with sl st to top of beg ch-3.

Rnd 2:
Ch 2 (does NOT counts as first dc), 2 dc in same st as joining, [2 dc in next dc] around; join with sl st to first dc. (24 dc)

Rnd 3:
Ch 2, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc] around; join. (36 dc)

Rnd 4:
Ch 2, dc in same st as joining, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc] around; join. (48 dc)

Rnd 5:
Ch 2, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc] around; change to Green, join with sl st to back loop of first dc. (60 dc) Finish off White Fleck and weave in ends.

Rnd 6:
With Green, ch 2, working in back loops only, dc in same st as joining, dc in the next 3 dc, 2 dc in next, [dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc] around; join with sl st to back loop of first dc.

Rnd 7:
Ch 1, working in back loops only, (sc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same dc, skip next dc, [(sc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same dc, skip next dc] around; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Bow: Using yarn needle and Red, weave around Rnd 6. Tie in Bow and trim ends.
