#114 Scrap Crochet Dishcloth – Maggie Weldon Maggies Crochet

What a great way to use up all the scraps from all the dishcloths you have been making.  Here is another cleaver design by Carol Ballard.

Scrap Dishcloth

Skill: Easy

Size: About 9” square.

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Light Blue – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m); Various colors.

Crochet Hook:
Size I-9 (5.50 mm)

Gauge: 3 sc = 1″, 3 sc rows = 1″.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Long Single Crochet (long-sc):
Skip two previous rows, insert hook in sc in next row, pull up long lp, yo, draw through both lps on hook.

(The long-sc row is worked in Light Blue and the long sc is worked in the previous Light Blue row.)

DISHCLOTH

Each Row is done in a different color and finished off at the end of the Row.

Row 1:
(Right Side) With any color, ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch) across. (24 sc) Finish off.

Row 2:
Turn, with Light Blue, join with sc to first sc, [sc in next sc] across. (24 sc) Finish off.

Rows 3-4:
Turn, with next color, join with sc to first sc, [sc in next sc] across. (24 sc) Finish off.

Row 5:
Turn, with Light Blue, join with sc to first sc, sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc, [sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc] 4 times, sc in last 3 sc. (24 sc) Finish off.

Rows 6-7:
Rep Rows 3-4.

Row 8:
Turn, with Light Blue, join with sc to first sc, sc in next 2 sc, long-sc in next sc, [sc in next 3 sc, long-sc in next sc] four times, sc in last 4 sc. (24 sc) Finish off.

Rows 9-32:
Rep Rows 3-8 four times.

Rows 33-35:
Turn, with next color, join with sc to first sc, [sc in next sc] across. (24 sc) Finish off.- Trim yarn at beginning and ends of rows to 1”, to create fringe.

    What has happened to the heading showing the number of the dishcloth as well as the name of the dishcloth? On numbers 113 and 114, the numbers do not show ~~ only the names.

    I haven’t decided yet if I like the new format. Guess I’ll get used to it though ~ just different.

    Lovely Linda, I for one do not care for not having the
    same heading as the others, as it showed them as being part of the Dishcloth challenge. Now it just looks like a pattern from anywhere. Just my opinion.

    i agree with both Lovely Linda and Dorothy42. I am compensating for the blah heading by doing a copy of the number and name before i actually click on my pdf request and then pasting it before i save.
