Winter Solstice Dishcloth

Size:
About 8” square

Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Light Blue – 1 oz, 50 yds (30 g, 45 m); White – ½ oz, 25 yds (15 g, 22 m); Blue – ½ oz, 25 yds (15 g, 22 m) (Sugar ‘n Cream – Robins Egg Blue, White, Hot Blue)

Crochet Hook:
Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Special Stitches

Popcorn (PC):
Work 4 dc in st or sp indicated, drop lp from hook, insert hook front to back in first dc made, pull dropped lp through.

 

DISHCLOTH

Row 1:
(Right Side) Starting at bottom, with Blue, ch 29, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped ch count as first dc), [dc in next ch] across. (26 dc)

Row 2:
Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each dc across. (26 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Row 3:
With right side facing, join Light Blue with sl st to back lp of first sc, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), working in back loops only, [dc in next sc] across. (26 dc)

Row 4:
Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each dc across. Finish off and weave in ends. (26 sc)

Row 5:
With right side facing, join White with sl st to first sc, ch 3, [PC in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc] 12 times, dc in last sc. (12 Popcorns) Finish off and weave in ends.

Row 6:
With right side facing, join Light Blue with sl st to first dc, dc in same dc, [2 dc in next ch-1 sp] across. (26 dc)

Row 7:
Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each dc across. (26 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Row 8:
With right side facing, join Blue with sl st to back lp of first sc, ch 3, working in back loops only, [dc in next sc] across. (26 dc)

Rows 9-15:
Rep Rows 2-8 once.

Row 16:
Rep Row 2. Finish off and weave in ends.

Edging

With right side facing, working in Row 16, join Light Blue with sl st to first sc, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sc, [dc in next sc] across to last sc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last sc; * working in sides of rows, evenly sc across *; working in unused lps of starting ch, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in first ch, [dc in next ch] across to last ch, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in last ch; rep from * to * once; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off and weave in ends.
