Houndstooth Dishcloth

Skill: Easy to Intermediate

Size:
About 9” square.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Navy – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m); Stripes – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m) (Sugar ‘n Cream – Navy, Tie-Dye Stripes)

Crochet Hook:
Size I-9 (5.50 mm)

Gauge:
3 patt sts = 1″, 2 patt rows = 1″

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

To Change Colors

Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color yo and pull new color through remaining loops on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

DISHCLOTH

Note:
All sc is worked using Navy, all dc is worked using Stripes, carry unused color to back and work stitches over it.

Row 1:
(Right Side) With Navy, ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (24 sc)

Row 2:
Ch 1, turn, changing colors as needed, sc in first sc, dc in next sc, [sc in next sc, dc in next sc] 11 times. (24 sts)

Row 3-19:
Ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, [sc in next dc, dc in next sc] 11 times. (24 sts)

At the end of Row 19, Finish off Stripes and weave in ends.

Row 20:
Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (24 sc) DO NOT FINISH OFF.

Edging

Rnd 1:
Ch 1, turn (right side facing), 2 sc in first sc, [sc in next sc] across to last sc, 3 sc in last sc; * working in sides of rows, work 2 sc in each dc row and 1 sc in each sc row *; working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first ch, [sc in next ch] across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch; rep from * to * once, sc in next sc; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2:
Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join. Finish off and weave in ends.
