#83 Square Spiral Crochet Dishcloth

Square Spiral Dishcloth

Skill: Easy – Intermediate

Size:
About 10” square.

Materials:
Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Blue – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m) Light Blue – 1 oz, 50 yd (30 g, 46 m) (Sugar ‘n Cream – Hot Blue, Robin Egg Blue)

Crochet Hook:
Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Gauge:
3 sc = 1″, 3 sc rows = 1″.

TO CHANGE COLORS

Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color yo and pull new color through remaining loops on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

DISHCLOTH

Row 1:
(Right Side) With Blue, ch 27, sc in 2nd ch from hook, (sc in next ch) across, change color to Light Blue. (26 sc)

Rows 2-26:
Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across, following chart for color changes.

At the end of Row 26, DO NOT FINISH OFF EITHER COLOR.

Edging

Rnd 1:
Ch 1, turn, alternating colors with each sc, evenly sc around cloth; join with sl st to first sc. DO NOT FINISH OFF UNUSED COLOR.

Rnd 2:
Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, ch 3, skip next sc, * sc in next sc, ch 3, skip next sc; rep from * around; join. Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 3:
With remaining color, sl st to first skipped sc, ch 1, sc in same sc, ch 3, * alternating working in front and behind ch-3 lps, sc in next skipped sc, ch 3; rep from * around; join.

Finish off and weave in ends.

Notes For Color Chart:

– Each block represents one single crochet in one row.

– Solid Blocks = Blue; White Blocks = Light Blue.

For right-handers:

– Odd numbered rows are worked from right to left.

– Even numbered rows are worked from left to right.

For left-handers

– Odd numbered rows are worked from left to right.

– Even numbered rows are worked from right to left.

    thanks for posting so early now ic an take a pattern with me to the drs apt… LOVE THEM i copied the duck also cause i think my smom loves them HUGS ME DID U GET THE DISHCLOTH I SENT IN ME

    No way to get this pattern to work. The colors always end up at the opposite end when you need to change. Try this instead. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1262512/spiral_dishcloth_crochet_till_youre.html

    I did this and it made a cute dishcloth 🙂 I couldn’t get it to work quite right but plugged along anyway. The edging covers up most of my sins 🙂 When I looked at the cloth initially I expected it to be worked in the round.. but was intrigued by the different approach.
