Gerber Daisy Doily – Free Crochet Pattern



One of the best heirlooms you can create is a doily.  Your doilies will be cherished for generations to come.  This delightful Gerber Daisy Doily is crocheted with crochet cotton thread and a steel crochet hook.  This is a sit down, relax and enjoy project that will provide you with hours of enjoyment and a great sense of accomplishment when you get done.

Skill: Intermediate

Size: Approximately 12 inches across

Materials: Number 30 Mercerized Crochet Thread: Black, Color/s of choice, Green , and White

Crochet Hook: Steel Size 11 (1.00 mm) or Steel Size 12 (1.10 mm)

Note: The center of this doily is edged with 8 daisies. They may all be one color or a combination of various colors.

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Double Treble (dtr): Yarn over hook 3 times, work off 2 lps at a time.

Cluster (cl): Keeping last loop of each specified st on hook, work in st or sp indicated, yo and pull through all loops on hook.

V-Stitch (V-st): (tr, ch 2, tr) in same st or sp.

Shell: (3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in same st or sp.

Picot: Ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook.

DAISY (Make 9)

Center: (Right Side) Starting at center, with Black, ch 5, join with sl st to first ch to form ring; ch 1, 16 sc in ring; join with sl st to first sc. (16 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Petal: Using Color thread, ch 10; insert hook in any sc on Center and pull lp through; ch 1, working in ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next 3 ch, dc in next 5 ch, 6 hdc in last ch; working on opposite side of ch, dc in next 5 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, sc in next ch; join to sc first worked in. Finish off and weave in ends.

Skip next sc on Center and repeat Petal in next sc. Continue to work around, making 8 Petals in all. This completes one Daisy.

Make 9 Daisies in total.

DOILY

Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting around center Daisy, join White with sl st in tip of any Petal, ch 1, sc in same st as joining,  ch 9, (sc in tip of next petal, ch 9) 7 times; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 8 (counts as first dtr and ch 3), (4 dtr cluster, ch 3, 4 dtr cluster) in 5th ch of ch-9 below, ch 3, * dtr in sc at tip of next petal, ch 3, (4 dtr cluster, ch 3, 4 dtr cluster) in 5th ch of next ch-9 below, ch 3; rep from * around; join to first dtr.

Rnd 3: Ch 8 (counts as first tr and ch 4), 5 tr over ch-3 lp between cluster, ch 4, skip next cl, * tr in next single dtr, ch 4, 5 tr over next ch-3 lp between cluster, ch 4, skip next cl; rep from * around; join to first tr.

Rnd 4: Ch 6, (counts as first tr and ch 2), tr in first tr, ch 5, V-st in center tr of next 5-tr group, ch 5, * V-st in next single tr, ch 5, V-st in center tr of next 5-tr group, ch 5; rep from * around; join.

Rnd 5: Ch 6, (counts as first tr and ch 2), tr over ch-2 lp, ch 6, * V-st in next V-st, ch 6; rep from * around; join.

Rnd 6: Ch 6, (counts as first tr and ch 2), tr over ch-2 lp, ch 7, * V-st in next V-st, ch 7; rep from * around; join.

Rnd 7: Ch 6, (counts as first tr and ch 2), tr over ch-2 lp, ch 8, * V-st in next V-st, ch 8; rep from * around; join.

Rnd 8: Ch 6, (counts as first tr and ch 2), tr over ch-2 lp, tr in next 8 ch, * V-st in V-st, tr in next 8 ch; rep from * around; join. Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 9: With right side facing, join White in ch-2 lp of any V-st, ch 4 (counts as first tr), (2tr, ch 2, 3 tr) in same ch-2 lp, ch 5, dc between 4th and 5th tr, working in next Daisy, sc in tip of any Petal, ch 5, sc in tip of next petal and over ch-2 lp of next V-st, ch 5, dc between 4th and 5th tr, sc in tip of next petal (each Daisy is joined to Doily by 3 petals), ch 5, * Shell in center of next V-st, ch 5, dc between 4th and 5th tr, working in another Daisy, sc in tip of any Petal, ch 5, sc in tip of next petal and over ch-2 lp of next V-st, ch 5, dc between 4th and 5th tr, sc in tip of next petal, ch 5; rep from * around, joining all Daisies to Doily center; join with sl st to first tr. Finish off and weave in ends.

LEAVES

Leaf Rnd: With right side facing, join Green with sl st to ch-2 lp of any Shell,* ch 10, sl st in tip of an adjacent Daisy Petal, hdc in 3rd st from hook, hdc in next st, dc in each of next 6 sts, sc back into ch-2 lp, (one leaf made); rep from * except sl st in tip of petal of other adjoining Daisy (second leaf made). Finish off and weave in ends.

Make 2 leaves between each 2 flowers.

Outer Edging

Rnd 1: With right side facing, working in petals not attached to Doily, join White with sc to tip of any petal connected to Leaf, * (ch 9, sc in tip of next free petal) across Daisy, ch 10 between Daisies; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 2: Working in ch-lps, (7 sc, picot, 7 sc) over each ch-lp around; join. Finish off and weave in ends.

Dampen and block doily in true shape.
