Wristers are great at keeping a kid warm while being “so cool”. Crochet them in bright neon colors or whatever color suits a kid’s style.

Materials:

RED HEART® Gumdrop®: 1 ball 975 Licorice

Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 5.5 mm [US I-9]

Yarn needle

Gauge/Tension: 18 sts and 12 rows in pattern = 4” (10 cm). CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given.

Wristers are for a child’s size 2/4. Changes for child’s size 6/8/10 are in parentheses.

Finished Measurements: 5 (6)” (12.5 [15] cm) in circumference. 5½ (6½)” (14 [16.5] cm) long.

WRISTER (Make 2)

Leaving 12” (30.5 cm) tail, ch 26 (32).

Row 1 (right side): Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—24 (30) dc. Fasten off.

Row 2: Ch 1, sl st in each st across, turn—24 (30) sl sts.

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), working in front loops only, dc in each dc across, turn—24 (30) dc.

Repeat Rows 2–3 until piece measures 5 (6)” (12.5 [15] cm) from beginning,

ending with Row 2 of pattern. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Joining Row: With wrong sides facing, fold piece in half, matching sts of

last row with foundation ch, working through double thickness, join yarn

with a slip st in first st of last row and corresponding foundation ch, slip st in each of next 11 (13) sts. Fasten off.

Skip next 6 (8) sts for thumb opening.

Working through double thickness, rejoin yarn with a slip st in next st, slip st in each of next 5 (7) sts. Fasten off.
