RED HEART® “Soft Baby Steps®”: 4 balls 9700 Baby Pink A, 1 ball 9620 Baby Green B.
Crochet Hooks: 5mm [US H-8] and 5.5mm [US I-9].

Yarn needle.
Blanket measures 34½” x 34½”
GAUGE: 14 sts = 4”; 10 rows = 4” in pattern using smaller hook. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
NOTE: To change color, work last stitch of old color to last  yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all  loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color.  Fasten off old color.
BLANKET

With smaller hook and A, ch 116.

Row 1 (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—115 sc.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), working in back loops only, skip first 3 sc, 4 dc in next sc, *skip next 3 sc, 4 dc in next sc; repeat from * across to last 3 sc, skip next 2 sc, dc in last sc, turn—twenty-eight 4-dc groups and 1 dc at each end.

Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), dc in first dc (V-st made), *ch 1, V-st in space between next two 4-dc groups; repeat from * across, ch 1, V-st in top of turning ch, turn—29 V-sts.

Row 4: Ch 1, working in front loops only, sc in each dc and ch-1 space across to turning ch-space, sc in turning chspace, sc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn—115 sc.

Row 5: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across, turn.

Rows 6–77: Repeat Rows 2–5 eighteen times.

Rows 78–80: Repeat Rows 2–4.

Do not fasten off.
Edging

Change to larger hook.

Round 1: Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to last sc, 3 sc in last sc (corner made); work 113 sc evenly spaced across side edge; working across opposite side of foundation ch, 3 sc in first ch (corner made), sc in each ch across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch (corner made); work 113 sc evenly spaced across other side edge, sc in same sc as beginning (first corner completed); join with slip st in first sc, change to B in last st—464 sc. Fasten off A.

Round 2: With B, ch 6 (counts as tr, ch 1), (tr, [ch 1, tr] 4 times) in same sc as join (first 6-tr fan made), *[skip next 3 sc, slip st in next sc, skip next 3 sc, 5-tr fan in next sc] twice, [skip next 2 sc, slip st in next sc, skip next 3 sc, 5-tr fan in next sc] 12 times, skip next 3 sc, slip st in next sc, skip next 3 sc, 5-tr fan in next sc, skip next 3 sc, slip st in next sc, skip next 3 sc**, 6-tr fan in next corner sc; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **; join with slip st in 5th ch of beginning ch, change to A in last st—64 shells.

Round 3: With A, slip st in next ch-1 space, [ch 2, slip st in next ch-1 space] 4 times, ch 2, slip st in next slip st, *[ch 2, slip st in next ch-1 space] 4 times, ch 2, slip st in next slip st*; repeat from * to * across to next corner 6-tr fan, **[ch 2, slip st in next ch-1 space] 5 times, ch 2, slip st in nextslip st; repeat from * to * across to next corner 6-tr fan; repeat from ** around, ch 2; join with slip st in first ch-1 space. Fasten off.
