RED HEART® Super Saver: 1 Skein each 334 Buff A 319 Cherry Red B, and 365 Coffee C.

Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].

Yarn needle.
  One size fits most.

Hat Circumference: 20”.
GAUGE: 12 sc = 4”; 16 rows = 4”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.Special Stitch

Fphdc = Front post half double crochet. Yo, insert hook from the front side of the work to back and to front again around the post of the indicated stitch on a previous row; yo and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook, yo and draw through all loops (1 loop on hook).

HAT

With A, ch 62.

Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc and dc in same st, *skip 2 ch, work (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch; repeat from * across to last 3 ch, skip 2 ch, sc in last ch.

Rounds 2-10: Ch 1, turn, (sc, hdc, dc) in first sc, *skip next dc and hdc, (sc, hdc, dc) in next sc; repeat from * across to last 3 sts, skip next dc and hdc, sc in sc. Do not fasten off.

Joining Row: With right sides together, fold Hat in half crosswise, turn to work along side edges, working through both layers along edges of rows, sc evenly spaced to Row 1. Do not fasten off.

Top Edge

Round 1: With wrong side facing, turn to work opposite foundation ch, ch 2 (counts as hdc here and throughout), *hdc in sc, hdc in ch-2 space; repeat from * around, slip st in top of beginning ch to join – 40 hdc.

Rounds 2-4: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc, slip st in top of beginning ch. Do not fasten off.

Joining Row: Flatten Hat and working through both layers, slip st across 20 sts to join top of Hat. Fasten off.

Band

Round 1: With right side facing, join B in seam on lower edge of Hat, ch 1, sc in each st around, slip st in first sc to join – 60 sts.

Rounds 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.

Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in each sc around, slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 5: With C, ch 2, Fphdc in each hdc around, slip st in beginning ch.

Round 6: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 7: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each hdc around, slip st into first st.

Round 8: Ch 1, [sc in next 10 sc, ch 2, sc in same sc] around, slip st in first st.

Round 9: Ch 1, sc in each sc and ch-2 space around, slip st in first beginning sc – 72 sc.

Round 10: With A, ch 1, sc in each sc around, slip st in first sc.

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Weave in ends.
