RED HEART® Classic™: 4 skeins each 111 Eggshell A and 513 Parakeet C; 2 skeins each 12 Black B and 401 Nickel D.Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 6mm [US J-10]

Yarn needle

GAUGE: six ch-2 loops = 4” [10 cm] on Row 1; Rows 1-8 = 3” [8 cm] in pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
THROW
With A, ch 130.Row 1 (Right Side): Working in back loops of ch, (sc, ch 2, sc) in 2nd ch from hook, * skip next ch, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch; repeat from * across; turn – 65 ch-2 spaces.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first ch-2 space, * ch 1, sc in next ch-2 space; repeat from * across; turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, * (sc, ch 2, sc) in sc; repeat from * across; turn

Row 4: Repeat Row 2.

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 for pattern in the following color sequence: 4 more rows with A, [4 rows B, 6 rows C, 2 rows D, 8 rows A] 7 times. Fasten off.

 

Border

With right side facing, join D in upper right hand corner sc.

Round 1 (Right Side): Ch 1, (sc, [ch 2, sc] 3 times) all in corner sc, * (sc, ch 2, sc) in next sc; repeat from * to next corner; (sc, [ch 2, sc] 3 times) all in corner sc, ** (sc, ch 2, sc) all in next row end, skip next row end; repeat from ** to next corner ***; (sc, [ch 2, sc] 3 times) all in corner ch; repeat from * once more working in the ch opposite sc across the foundation ch and then up the next side edge, end at ***; join with a slip st in first sc; TURN.

Round 2 (Wrong Side): Slip st to next ch-2 space; ch 1, * sc in ch-2 space, ch 1; repeat from * to next corner space; (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner space, ch 1; repeat from * around; join in first sc; TURN.

Round 3 (Right Side): (Sc, ch 2, sc) in same sc as joining, * (sc, ch 2, sc) in next sc; repeat from * to next corner; (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 space; repeat from * around; join. Fasten off. Do NOT turn.

Round 4: With right side facing, join C in a ch-2 space away from a corner; ch 1, * sc in ch-2 space, ch 1; repeat from * to next corner space; (hdc, ch 3, hdc) in corner space, ch 1; repeat from * around; join in first sc.

Round 5: * Ch 3, skip next sc, slip st in next ch-1 space; repeat from * to corner; ch 3, skip hdc, (slip st, ch 3, slip st) in ch-3 space; repeat from * around working last slip st in joining of last round.

Round 6: (Slip st, ch 3, slip st) in each ch-3 space around including corner ch-3 spaces; slip st in first slip st to join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
