Skill: Easy
Size: About 9½” wide and 7½” long
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Stripes – 2 oz, 100 yds (60 g, 92 m) (Sugar ‘n Cream – Natural Stripes)
Crochet Hook: Size I-9 (5.50 mm)
Special Stitches:
Single Crochet Decrease: (sc dec): Draw up a lp in each of next 2 sts, yo and draw through 3 lps on hook.
DISHCLOTH:
Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at base, ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (13 sc)
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, turn, sc dec (over first 2 sc), [sc in next sc] across to last 2 sc, sc dec. (11, 9 sc)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (9 sc)
Rows 5-11: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, [sc in next sc] across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc. (11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23 sc)
Rows 12-24: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (23 sc)
At the end of Row 24, ch 12, sl st in side of Row 16 (to form handle).
Row 25: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 12 ch, working in Row 24, sc in each sc across. (35 sc) DO NOT FINISH OFF.
TRIM
With right side facing, sc in same sc as last sc worked; working in side of rows, evenly sc across; working in unused lps of starting ch, 2 sc in first ch, sl st in next ch, (sc, hdc) in next ch, (hdc, sc) in next ch, sl st in next ch, (sc, hdc) in next ch, dc in next ch, (hdc, sc) in next ch, sl st in next ch, (sc, hdc) in next ch, (hdc, sc) in next ch, sl st in next ch, 2 sc in last ch; working in side of rows, sc evenly across to handle, sc in each sc of handle; working across Row 25, sc in each sc across; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Handle Trim
With right side facing, join yarn with sc in any st on inside of handle, sc in side of rows and each ch around, skipping corner st where necessary so that work lays flat; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
