Popcorn & Stripes Dishcloth

Skill: Easy
Size: About 9” square.
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton: White – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m); Variegated – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m)
Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)
To Change Colors
Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color, yo and pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.
JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
Special Stitches
V-Stitch (v-st): (Dc, ch 1, dc) in same st or sp indicated.
Popcorn (pc): 4 dc in next st, drop lp from hook, insert hook from front to back in first dc made, pull dropped lp through.
DISHCLOTH
Row 1: (Right Side) With Variegated, ch 29, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sc in next ch] across. (28 sc)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, sc in each sc across. (28 sc)
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, sc in each sc across, change color to White.
Row 4: With White, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, dc in first sc, [skip next 2 sc, v-st in next sc] 8 times, skip next 2 sc, 2 dc in last sc.
Row 5: Ch 3, turn, dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc, pc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2 [skip next 2 dc, pc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2] 6 times, skip next 2 dc, pc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in last 2 dc.
Row 6: Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, skip next dc, dc in next ch-sp, [v-st in next sp] 7 times, dc in next sp, ch 1, dc in last 2 dc. Change color to Variegated.
Row 7: With Variegated, ch 1, turn, sc in each dc and ch across.
Row 8: Ch 3, turn, [dc in next sc] across. (28 dc)
Rows 9-19: Rep Rows 3-8 once and Rows 3-7 once more.
Rows 20-21: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
At the end of Row 21, DO NOT FINISH OFF.
Left Edging
Row 1: With right side facing, working in sides of rows, ch 1, sc evenly across.
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
At the end of Row 3, finish off and weave in ends.
Right Edging
Row 1: With right side facing, working in sides of rows, join Variegated with sc in end of Row 1, sc evenly across.
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
At the end of Row 3, finish off and weave in ends.
