Thirteen Grannies In A Square Dishcloth

Skill: Easy
Size: About 9” square.
Materials: Worsted Weight Cotton: Pink – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m); White Fleck – 1½ oz, 75 yd (45 g, 69 m) (Sugar ‘n Cream – Rose Pink, Pastel Print)
Yarn Needle
Crochet Hook: Size H-8 (5.00 mm)

Special Stitches
Shell:
5 dc in same st or sp indicated.

DISHCLOTH
Center Granny
Rnd 1:
(Right Side) Starting at center, with White Fleck, ch 6, join with sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 3 dc in ring, ch 2; [4 dc in ring, ch 2] 3 times; join with sl st to first dc. (16 dc and 4 corner ch-2 sps)
Rnds 2-3:
Ch 3, * [dc in next dc] across to next corner, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp; rep from * around; join. (32, 48 dc)
At the end of Rnd 3, finish off and weave in ends.

Small Granny (Make 12)
Rnd 1:
(Right Side) Starting at center, with Pink, ch 6, join with sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 3 dc in ring, ch 2; [4 dc in ring, ch 2] 3 times; join with sl st to first dc. (16 dc and 4 corner ch-2 sps) Finish off leaving long end.

Assembly (use photo as guide)
- Using long ends, sew Small Grannies around Center Granny (2 per side and 1 in each corner) and sew sides of Small Grannies together.

Border
Rnd 1:
With right side facing, working around outer edge of Small Grannies, join White Fleck with sl st in any corner ch-2 sp, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp, dc in next 4 dc, [dc in next 2 ch-sps, dc in next 4 dc] 3 times, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp, dc in next 4 dc, [dc in next 2 ch-sps, dc in next 4 dc] 3 times; rep from * around; join.
Rnd 2:
Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, [sc in next dc] around, working (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Rnd 3:
With right side facing, join Pink with sc to any corner ch-2 sp, ch 2, sc in same sp, [sc in next sc] around, working (sc, ch 2, sc) in each corner ch-2 sp; join. Finish off and weave in ends.

Flower
With Pink, ch 1 (center ch), [ch 10, sl st in center ch] 6 times. Finish off leaving long end.
- Using long end, sew Flower to center of Dishcloth.
