Size:
About 12” wide, 11” long (at widest points)
Materials:
Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn: Blue Stripes – 2 oz, 110 yd (57 g, 100 m); Navy – ½ oz, 27 yd (15 g, 25 m) (Sugar ‘n Cream – Sun-Kissed Ombre, Navy)
Crochet Hook:
Size H-8 (5.00 mm)
Gauge:
6 dc = 2”, 3 dc rows = 2″

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches
Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec):
Keeping last loop of each st on hook, dc in next 2 sts, yo and pull through 3 loops on hook.
Shell:
(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in st or sp indicated.

DISHCLOTH
Head and Abdomen
Rnd 1:
(Right Side) Starting at Head, with Navy, ch 19, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 16 ch, 3 sc in last ch; working in unused lps of starting ch on other side, sc in next 16 ch, sc in first ch; join with sl st to first sc. (38 sc)
Rnd 2:
[Ch 6, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 4 ch, sl st in first sc of Rnd 1] twice (antennae made). Finish off and weave in ends.

Left Wing
Row 1:
With right side facing, join Stripes with sl st to 2nd sc of Rnd 1, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), dc in same st as joining, dc in next 9 sc, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next 4 sc, 2 dc in next sc. (17 dc)
Row 2:
Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, dc in next 5 dc, ch 1, dc in next 10 dc, 2 dc in next dc. (19 dc)
Row 3:
Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, dc in next 11 dc, ch 1, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc. (21 dc)
Row 4:
Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, dc in next 5 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc, dc in ch 1 sp, dc in next 12 dc, 2 dc in next dc. (23 dc)
Row 5:
Ch 3, turn, dc in next 15 dc, ch 1, dc in next 7 dc. (23 dc)
Row 6:
(Bottom Wing) Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, dc in next 6 dc. (8 dc) Leave remaining sts unworked.
Row 7:
Ch 1, turn, sl st in next dc, ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in last dc. (8 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Top Wing
Row 6:
With wrong side facing, working in Row 5, skip ch-1 sp, join with sl st to next dc, ch 3, dc dec, dc in next 13 dc. (15 dc)
Row 7:
Ch 3, turn, dc in first dc, dc in next 12 dc, dc dec. (15 dc)
Row 8:
Ch 3, turn, dc dec, dc in next 11 dc, 2 dc in next dc. (15 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

Right Wing
Row 1:
With wrong side facing, join Stripes with sl st to 37th sc of Rnd 1, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), dc in same st as joining, dc in next 9 sc, ch 1, skip next sc, dc in next 4 sc, 2 dc in next sc. (17 dc)
Rows 2-8:
Rep Rows 2-7 of Left Wing and Rows 6-8 of Top Wing.

Left Wing Edging
Row 1:
With right side facing, working in ends of rows, join Stripes with sc in end of Left Wing Row 1 (next to antennae), sc in same st, 2 sc in next 7 rows; working in Row 8, 3 sc in first dc, sc in next 13 dc, 3 sc in last dc; working in sides of rows, skip next row, 2 sc in next 2 rows, sc in next dc, sc in ch-1 sp, 2 sc in next row, sc in next sl st, 2 sc in next row; working in Row 7, 3 sc in first dc, sc in next 5 dc, 3 sc in last dc; working in sides of rows, 2 sc in next 7 rows. Finish off and weave in ends.

Right Wing Edging
Row 1:
With wrong side facing, rep Left Wing Edging.

Border and Outline
Rnd 1:
With right side facing, join Navy with sl st to first sc of Left Wing Edging, ch 2, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same st, skip next sc, sc in next sc, [skip next sc, Shell in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc] 9 times; * working in ch-1 sps towards abdomen, [ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp] 4 times, ch 2, sl st in skipped sc on Rnd 1, working in same ch-1 sps towards Border, [ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp] 4 times, ch 2 *; working around Lower Wing, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, [skip next sc, Shell in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc] 7 times; working on Right Lower Wing, sc in first sc, [skip next sc, Shell in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc] 7 times; rep from * to * once; working around Top Wing, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, [skip next sc, Shell in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc] 9 times, skip next sc, Shell in next sc; join with sl st to first dc (behind Head).

    Not only made the dish cloth, but used butterfly as center of a jumper I made my grand daughter, and then used size 10 thread and made smaller butterflies for the out fit. Great pattern
