Baby Doll Filet Afghan

Your little one’s baby doll will be wrapped up in style with this lacy filet miniature afghan.  This crochet project is quick and easy to create with crochet hook Size F and sport weight yarn.  If you are looking for a unique gift, handmade by you, for that special child in your life, this is a great pick. A 9″ baby doll is shown in the picture but this afghan set is also great for Barbie Dolls.

Skill: Easy

Size: About 9 inches by 12 inches.

Materials: Sport Weight Yarn: White (W) – 2 oz Yarn Needle;

Crochet Hook: Size F-5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 7 dc = 1¼ inches; 3 rows = 1¼ inches

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

Special Stitches

Wrong Side Popcorn: (WP): 4 dc in specified st or sp, remove hook from lp, insert hook from back to front in first dc of 4-dc group, pick up dropped lp, pull through dc.

AFGHAN

Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at bottom, with White, ch 49, dc in 4th ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc), dc in next 5 ch, * ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next 7 ch; rep from * across. (42 dc)

Pattern Rows

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in next 2 dc, WP in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, * ch 1, skip ch-1 sp, dc in next 3 dc, WP in next dc, dc in next 3 dc; rep from * across. (6 Popcorns)

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, dc in next 6 dc, * ch 1, skip ch-1 sp, dc in next 7 dc; rep from * across. (42 dc)

Row 4: Ch 4, turn, * skip next dc or ch-sp, dc in next dc, ch 1; rep from * across, ending with dc in last dc. (23 ch-1 sps)

Row 5: Ch 3, turn, (dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc) 3 times, * ch 1, skip next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, (dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc) 3 times; rep from * across. (42 dc)

Rows 6-27: Rep Pattern Rows 2-5, ending with Row 3.

Afghan Border

Rnd 1: Ch 6, DO NOT TURN, dc in same st as last dc worked in Row 27, ** working in sides of rows, (ch 1, dc in base of next dc) 27 times across **, ending with a dc in starting ch, working in unused lps of starting ch, ch 3, dc in same ch last worked, (ch 1, skip next ch, dc in next ch) across, ch 3, dc in same last ch; rep ** to **, ending with a dc in top of turning ch, working across row 27, ch 3, dc in same st, ch 1, skip next st, (dc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc or ch-1 sp)across; join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-6. (100 ch-1 sps and 4 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 2: Sl st to ch-3 sp, ch 1, 5 sc in same sp, 2 sc in each ch-1 sp around, working 5 sc in each corner ch-3 sp; join with sl st to first sc. (220 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.
